oh, excitement.

I applied to my summer program in Japan, no word back yet, but hopefully I'll find myself in Tokyo all summer!

In the meantime, I've set this image as my desktop so that I can dream about 東京 (or Tokyo) aaaaaaallllll day.
hmm...come to think about it, I'm not even sure if this image is a lil map for tokyo, but it sure does seem to be with that Mt.Fuji-esque illustration there.

Did you know that Mount Fuji is called "Fuji-san" in Japanese? That's like saying Mr./Ms. Fuji. I wish that we did that here, like, Ms. Blue Ridge, or Mr. old faithful (yes, he's a boy, as decreed by me).

Fuji-san (or 富士山 in Japanese, I know the second and last characters mean earth and mountain respectively) is a great national landmark in Japan, and has been for quite some time.

The most popular historical art on Fuji-san is Ando Hiroshige's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" which is a series of woodblock prints made during the mid 1800's.

Of course the one we're all familiar with is one: (see Fuji-san? I usually get so intimidated by that huge wave that I forget the little mountain.)

You can see the whole collection here. I love how they look at different aspects of Japanese life, traditions, and seasons. I'm excited to study these in History of Communication Arts.

Well, ANYHOW...

To keep me on my optimistic streak, here is a little image I found on, I'm pretty sure, Design*Sponge. Which is a terribly cute website. I like this poster because it reminds me that even when I don't feel so optimistic, I probably am.
From this artist here.

Well, I'm off to Epshteyn's class (oooh boy). I'm dreading it, but once I get there I know that I'll be ok. We're starting a new drawing today, so hopefully I won't mess stuff up too bad.

Also, I'm working on an Etsy.com shop to sell aprons on. I've got to start networking like crazy and get my stuff together to make many people happy via aprons.

Good day!
